A certified energy assessor visits your home and performs a systematic evaluation over two to four hours. The assessment covers the building envelope, heating and cooling equipment, ventilation, lighting, and appliances. The result is a written report detailing current energy use, identified weaknesses, and a prioritized list of recommended upgrades.
The assessor walks through each room documenting insulation levels, air barrier continuity, and existing mechanical systems.
A calibrated fan is mounted in an exterior doorframe to pressurize the house, revealing air leakage pathways that are invisible to the eye.
Results are entered into HOT2000 software to generate an EnerGuide score, which serves as the baseline for grant eligibility.
